About Us

Quail Bell Press & Productions is a multi-faceted arts, entertainment, and media company invested in the imaginary, the nostalgic, and the otherworldly. We produce feminist/womanist and BIPOC-centered narratives across creative media in the literary, performing, and visual arts, with all primary production done in Brooklyn, NY. We create original projects to produce books, films, plays, murals, podcasts, creative merchandise, and more. We aim to make these productions and products accessible to a wide variety of audiences at different price points, both in person in New York City and online (or via shipment) around the world. Quail Bell is the brainchild of multi-hyphenate creative Christine Stoddard.
Our Mission
The Quail Bell Crew is a team of fairy punks who are citizens of the world. We create work that values and critiques issues in the arts, cultural heritage, and social justice. We embrace the imaginary, the nostalgic, and the otherworldly, all while striving for inclusivity and social engagement. We care deeply about personal narratives, diverse voices, and expanded notions of creative expression. We place a special emphasis on feminist/womanist and BIPOC-centered work. In all that we do, the Quail Bell Crew encourages original thought, open dialogue, community-building, and a sense of wonder and magic.
Our History
Quail Bell Press & Productions began with Quail Bell Magazine as an art and literary publication. Founder Christine Stoddard built the magazine website, led print projects, and held art and fashion shows all in the name of Quail Bell while an undergraduate at VCUarts in Richmond, VA. Many of Quail Bell's earliest editors and contributors, such as Josephine Stone (R.I.P. 2011), were also VCU students. After moving to Alexandria, VA, Christine continued running Quail Bell, with Kristen Rebelo and Deniz Ataman by her side. When Christine moved to Brooklyn, NY, she maintained strong ties to the Old Dominion. Today she runs Quail Bell Magazine with executive editor Gretchen Gales, a VCU alumna and fellow Virginia native, and Ghia Vitale, a SUNY-Purchase alumna and Long Island resident. Quail Bell Press & Productions is proud to call both New York City, and works with clients, collaborators, and contributors from around the world. As of 2021, Quail Bell is a registered LLC in Brooklyn, NY.
